Our Story

MISSION

STEM Education Inc  is a Colorado non profit Corporation created to promote and establish the next generation of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math  (STEM) leaders for the 21st Century! It has expanded into parts of the USA and Kenya.

History of the Organization and its Mission.

The mission of STEM Education Inc is to empower children and young adults with the knowledge and resources needed to inspire an early passion for science, technology, engineering, and math and computer science (STEM+CS) through hands-on, scientific experimentation and exploration of today's technology so they can create and lead the world of tomorrow.

Before we were a 501(c)(3), (2017), we were one of the first homeschool umbrella schools in Colorado. We have been offering homeschool classes since 1989.

In 2011 we were invited to Kenya to start an educational outreach to establish Project Based Learning in the school system there. On one of our visits with our Kenya partners we were introduced to the Maasai tribe. They are a beautiful and strong people much like the American Indian tribes here in the USA. STEM Education has partnered with START (Solutions To Achieve Real Transformation) in Kenya to build a womens training center and a preschool in the Kajiado County Region of the Maasai Lands.

Current Programs, Activities and Accomplishments.

1. Free homeschool support and weekly STEM classes.

2. Summer camps for the Tulalip Indian Reservation in Washington State.

3. Maasai Women's training center and preschool called Maasai Osiligi Odede (Beautiful Hope in Maa)

Here is a video that Kathy captured when we were visiting the Maasai in 2018. The metal house in the background is the husbands and the little mud hut next to it is Mary's, that she had to build by herself when she got married. From our working with the extended family, the next year we came, she showed us her new house that the husband build out of his old house plus more. Now they live together in the new house. We never talked about family or them needing to change anything. It is a perfect example of the old saying "Actions speak louder than words"
