First Meetings with Hope Empowerment
This was a divine appointment! As Kathy and I were preparing to go down to Osiligi Odede to plant our first crop of Onions we went down to breakfast early. As we were sitting there there was a man behind me reading a brochure. Kathy walked up (Thinking it was me) looking at her phone and started talking to him. As she looked up she realized it wasn't me and said "Oops, sorry, I thought you were my husband. What's that your reading about?" From there we were introduced to the Githogoro Hope Empowerment Centre. Githogoro is a slum in North West Nairobi with over 10,000 residents. One of our goals on this trip was to find a location to start production of our "Made in Kenya, For Kenya" Educational manipulatives and curriculum. They just happened to move into a new space and needed work for their students so they could afford to focus on learning a trade.

Maasai Osiligi Odede - Cash Crop of Onions
This January trip I worked with Kimanzi, our Fundi (Contractor), Wilson, and the Maasai leb by Amos, to build and plant our first crop of Onions. Turns out Onions are a high demand, low supply item. And also that Kajiado County is know for having the best soil for Onions. With the help of Pastor Rob from New Horizon Church in Dacono, CO. and two of his nephews we have been able to plant our first nursery load.
Our March trip will be phase 2 of the Onions with Pastor Rob and his nephews coming with us to walk the land and plan out the next steps. SO EXCITING!!!
